This neighborhood beehive opened in a shopping center in 1975 with owner Sal Tramonte expecting to earn enough money to take his new bride Antonia back to their native Sicily. The Tramontes are still in south Allentown making traditional-style pies and Italian wedding soup for a slew of very loyal customers. Allentown Councilman Tony Phillips has been a regular since 1978; he also visits the Tramontes' other business Nino's Restaurant and Pizza on 15th Street run by their son Tony. "We've been here 32 years" says his brother Frank who manages Vesuvio's. "I think we're doing something right."
