Known far and wide as "Ham Fam" Allentown's Hamilton Family Restaurant is a 24-hours-a-day operation catering to those who appreciate diner food or want a filling breakfast day or night. It's also a favorite hangout of local politicos. Ham Fam's most popular dishes include the crab patty melt pork and sauerkraut chicken a la king and Texas-style liver. The desserts especially the homemade strawberry cheesecake also are a draw. George Malke took over as owner in October lowering prices across the board; instituting a dinner-value menu and a $1.49 breakfast special and installing another wall between the smoking and non-smoking sections. Two in-wall fish tanks make for lively conversation among the younger set.
